July was a whirlwind of a month but I am grateful to all those who have been following the tug of the Holy Spirit into leadership positions in the church.

A lot of people have been traveling, myself included. I had just gotten back from visiting Africa and was already taking off again to visit my new nephew in San Diego. As many of you know, the supply pastor ended up having car troubles and wasn’t able to be here to lead worship! Thank God for Ms. Toni Blesy and Mr. Bob Eggert who willingly stepped in and led services for us. While I hope this never happens again, I do feel blessed to be leading a church that is flexible in times of stress and is able to overcome difficulties. Attributes like these have seen Lord of Life through many difficult times in the past and will continue to serve the community well through all the curve balls to come. As the Bible says over and again “Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread…because it is the LORD your God who goes with you; God will not fail you or forsake you." (Deuteronomy 31:6)

I am also very excited about many things coming up this month. We will have outdoor worship again on August 10th on the east side of the church under the old cottonwood tree. Last month Ms. Sheila Ruh helped craft the service and delivered an amazing reflection on the beatitudes. This month Raymond Silhan is taking the reins and bringing his own flair to outdoor worship. I invite everyone and their furry friends to join us for this beautiful experience. Additionally, as kids and teachers are headed back to school, I am looking forward to meeting many of them at Darien Fest August 13th and 14th. Lord of Life will be hosting a booth with crafts, games, and face painting. I hope to see you there!

If you are interested in leadership opportunities to get more involved at Lord of Life, there are many ways to help out. If you would like opportunities to craft a worship service with my help, there are more outdoor services to come. Sundays there are opportunities to help with reading, ushering, or greeting. If you have a great recipe you are willing to make for the church community, Senior Spirits offers potlucks on the third Thursday of the month or once a month we have a refreshment table in between services. There are many other ways to share your talents with your community. Please contact me or the church office to find out more!

Thanks again for all the ways you continue to show up for each other, loving your neighbor as yourself.

Blessings,

Pastor Adam
